Group therapy differs from traditional outpatient therapy in that it uses the interactions between the members of the group to assist the participants in addressing areas of difficulty. A specific therapeutic curriculum is designed to address problems and solutions in a prioritized and consistent manner. The therapist presents the topic of each group and then monitors and encourages the interactions among group members. The therapist is also responsible for keeping the environment safe and secure for all members.
