Marriage counseling for couples and families is beneficial in addressing problems that impact an entire family unit. A therapist can assist family members in identifying areas of conflict and help individuals develop new skills and communication strategies to reduce conflict among members. Interventions are designed to address unique conflicts or problem areas and at times may include all family members, a particular pair of members, such as husband and wife, parent and child or a sibling group. Sessions may also be conducted with individual members of the family to focus on development of coping skills.
