VPS, in conjunction with the Sharon and Farrell School Districts, have successfully implemented school based behavioral health support model based on Nicholas Hobbs’ Re-Education philosophy and the 12 Principles of Re-Education. This is a unique opportunity for children to participate in a positive behavior support model. The use of these principles has been proven to make positive change. The principles are listed below.
Life is to be lived now
Trust between child and adult is essential
Competence makes a difference
Time is an ally
Self-control can be taught
The cognitive competence of children and adolescents can be considerably enhanced.
Feelings should be nurtured and shared.
The group is very important to young people
Ceremony and ritual give order, stability, and confidence
The body is the armature of the self
Communities are important for children and students
In growing up, a child should know some joy in each day
